Summers Brothers offers forged steel axles that are specifically designed for oval track racing applications. These chrome nickel steel axles are heat treated to 270,000 psi tensile strength. They have extra-thick axle flanges (.440" versus .320" for stock axle flanges), extra-large 1.772" diameter bearing journals, and .188" bearing journal shoulder radii. The 30 tooth splines are hobbed with the maximum tooth fillet radius for strength. Oval track axles are available with 1/2-20 studs on a 4 3/4" bolt pattern, or 5/8-18 studs on a 5" pattern.
Timken tapered roller bearings are installed on the axles with double locking collars. These unit-type bearings have extremely high radial and thrust capabilities, and never require adjusting. The bearing housings are sealed with lip-type seals and O-rings. Double press-on bearing collars prevent the axle from migrating out of the bearing and eliminate the dangerous practice of welding the bearing collars to the axle.
Summers Brothers forged steel axles are the choice of winning racers who demand quality and performance!
